Back Shelf is a daily movie game. This page says what it stores about you.

Without an account

Your browser keeps your nights, your shelf and a random player id in local storage. When you rent a film, our server stores the film, the tier and that random id, to count how many players picked each film. Nothing in it says who you are.

With an account

If you sign in with Google, we store your Google account id, your name and your email address (through Supabase, our database provider), and link your rentals to your account so your shelf follows you to other devices. You can ask us to delete your account and its rentals at hello@backshelf.io.

Cookies and analytics

Sign-in sets cookies when you sign in. We count visits with Google Analytics: until you say yes in the cookie bar, it sets no cookies and only receives anonymous, cookie-free signals; if you say yes, it sets its own cookies (_ga) to tell visits apart. You can change your answer any time with the Cookies link at the bottom of the home page. There are no ads.

Film data

Film titles, years, credits and genres come from Wikidata (CC0). Popularity estimates come from Wikipedia page-view data (CC0). Back Shelf is not affiliated with IMDb or Letterboxd; links to Letterboxd are for convenience.
